Laskys Cover Plus Terms & Conditions
What is Covered
AIG UK Limited, (we, us, ourselves), will cover the insured (you, your) against the cost of repairing or, if a repair is uneconomical, replacing the insured product (excluding any cost relating to delivery and/or installation) where it suffers from a mechanical or electrical failure (‘Breakdown’), including where this occurs as a result of damage caused by an accident (‘Accidental Damage’), during the Period of Cover subject to the terms and conditions of this policy (the ‘Policy’) as set out below:
Period of Cover:
You are covered under this Policy for the period specified on the Certificate of Insurance. Please note that Breakdown cover for the insured product starts from the date the manufacturer’s guarantee expires and cover for Accidental Damage starts from the date this Policy is purchased.
Transferable cover:
If you sell or give away the insured product, you can transfer this policy to the new owner at no charge. Simply send this certificate and new owner details to the Laskys Cover Plus Office (address below) requesting that the Policy be transferred.
Frozen Food Cover:
Where the insured product is a freezer or a fridge freezer purchased from Laskys (‘Insured Freezer/Fridge Freezer’), we will pay for any frozen food lost as a result of a Breakdown up to a maximum of £300 per Breakdown claim.
Personal Computers (PCs):
Cover on PCs include any internal hardware upgrades which are supplied and fitted by Laskys, or their authorised installer, within the period of cover.
What is Not Covered:
We aim to protect you against all breakdown and accidental damage incidents but would like to draw your attention to the following exclusions:
This policy does not cover Breakdown or Accidental Damage due to:
- failure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and/or installation guide;
- any external cause such as computer virus, fire, theft or weather, or faults in any electrical supply/connection or plumbing; or
- mishandling, abusing, neglecting, violence toward or vandalism of the Insured Product or any Breakdown or damage arising from recklessness or negligence by you.
This Policy does not cover:
- any business or commercial use of the Insured Product;
- replacing consumable items such as consumer replaceable batteries, fuses, filters, lamps, vacuum cleaner belts, bags and printer cartridges;
- the cost of stands or wall brackets not supplied as part of the plasma or LCD television;
- repairing or replacing any computer software or virus prevention/detection or external accessories;
- damage caused by the use of any accessory together with the insured product not approved by the manufacturer;
- cleaning/servicing of the insured product including realigning of satellite dishes or any adjustments intended by the manufacturer to be carried out by you and specified as being such in the manufacturer’s instructions and/or installation guide;
- repairing cosmetic damage where the function of the product is unaffected including, but not limited to dents, scratches, discoloration, colour of casings and rust; or
- any loss arising as a result of being unable to use the insured product or any consequential loss.(excluding spoilage of frozen food where the Insured Product is a freezer or fridge freezer).
This policy will not apply if the insured product is modified in any way or repaired by someone other than Laskys or one of our authorised repair agents.
Where the insured product is a pre-pay mobile phone (“insured phone”), we will not pay the cost of :
- airtime provider cancellation charges or airtime charges relating to the insured phone;
- any unauthorised calls made from the insured phone; or
- replacement of the insured phone if it is lost, stolen or otherwise unavailable for inspection.
This policy will be cancelled immediately in the event of your fraud, attempted fraud or non-disclosures of any changes that affect this Policy and no refund of premium will be due to you.
How To Claim
If your insured product does not work you must comply with the claims procedure below. We may decline a payment under this policy if you fail to do so:
(i) Check the manufacturer’s instructions and/or installation guide to make sure the controls are properly set and check the fuse in the plug;
(ii) Check you are covered under the terms and conditions of the policy and none of the exclusions apply
(iii) Contact the Laskys Cover Plus Office on 0844 871 8568 who will make the appropriate arrangements to resolve the problem.
If you wish to make a claim under the frozen food cover provided by this Policy:
do not dispose of the food which has been spoilt; and contact the Laskys Cover Plus Office on 0844 871 8568 within 2 days of discovering the existence of such a claim. They will send You a claim form and may arrange for an inspection, or instruct You to dispose of the food.
Product Replacement
If, at our sole discretion, we decide a repair to be uneconomical, we will replace the insured product with a new equivalent model of specification similar to that of the insured product not exceeding the purchase price of the original item. The details of the replacement will be advised to you by letter or telephone.
If you chose not to accept this replacement we may, at our sole discretion, offer an alternative of the same current value as the advised replacement. In the event that an insured product is replaced, your cover will end immediately and the insured product may, at our option, become our property.
Cancellation
Provided you have not made a claim during the period of cover under the terms of the policy you may cancel this policy within 45 days of purchase and receive a full refund of the premium paid. After 45 days, you are entitled to terminate your policy at any time and receive a pro rata refund of premium equivalent to the number of full unexpired months of cover remaining during the period of cover. To cancel your policy, please send your Certificate of Insurance together with a covering letter to: Laskys Plus Cover Office, Building 7/8 Floor 2, Vantage Point Business Village, Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire, GL17 0DD.
Complaints Procedure
If you have a question or complaint about this insurance, please contact the Laskys Cover Plus Office either by telephone 0844 871 8568 or in writing to the address above. They will do their best to resolve any difficulty directly with you, but if you remain dissatisfied you may be entitled to refer your dispute to the Financial Ombudsman Service, South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London, S14 9SR.
The contents of this policy do not affect your statutory rights. If you have any doubts about your statutory rights please contact your local Trading Standing Dept. or Citizens Advice Bureau.
This policy is subject to English Law unless you live in Scotland, when the laws of Scotland will apply.
